Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is psilocybin addictive or lethal? There is no lethal dose of psilocybin. In fact, studies show that psilocybin has the least incidences of ER admittance due to adverse reactions from over 20 different recreational drugs reported. https://www.ias.org.uk/uploads/pdf/News%20stories/dnutt-lancet-011110.pdf Psilocybin is not addictive. This is why we don’t hear about people going to mushroom rehab. Psilocybin develops a tolerance very quickly and stops having any effect if taken on a daily basis. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0028390818302296
2. What about all the stories I’ve heard about “bad trips”? "Bad trip" is a term used by many and represents many of the anecdotal stories from the 60’s when psilocybin was still legal. In all the clinical trials and studies performed since 2006, there has been zero individuals that have reported being harmed by this treatment. Because this is a therapeutic experience, we have had many clients report having a “challenging” journey while facing and processing past trauma. If this happens, we are trained and experienced in helping people navigate through this in order to achieve understanding and growth. There are a number of measures we take to prevent someone from having a so called “bad trip” A) We prepare you extensively for the treatment. We will prepare your set and setting which involves your mindset about the treatment and make sure you are comfortable with the environment and the individuals that will be present for your treatment. B) Many people that report having a “bad trip” were in a recreational setting with other people that are also dosing and are not prepared to help others navigate the experience. C) We do not provide hero doses. Hero doses are larger than 5 grams and usually causes people to lose touch with reality. By staying at a lower dose, you will most likely remember the entire experience. We are also updosing you so as not to give you a large amount all at once, this way we can monitor how you are tolerating the medicine before giving you more. D) We are not mixing psilocybin with other substances. This was often the case in the examples of “bad trips” that people tell stories about. We will not be taking psilocybin with other substances such as alcohol, cocaine, or other non-therapeutic drugs.
3. What if I still don’t like the experience? We do keep nanoencapsulated CBD oil and Benadryl on hand. Either or both of these will help an individual bring the ego back online quickly. There might be some minor psychoactive effects such as sharp colors but the intense psychoactive effects will be eliminated within 20-30 minutes.
